Basically as the topics state: what book(s) are you reading right now?
(feel free to elaborate what the book is about or even the writer as well as your opinions of the book so far).
Currently I'm reading "The Golden Compass" which is the first book of the "His Dark Materials" series by Phillip Pullman. This book is also knows as the Northern Lights in Europe and the earlier editions of the book. And yes the movie that is called the "Golden Compass" is based on this novel. However I find that the movie and the novel have many differences. Not to the point where you couldn't recognize the movie as something that is based on this novel but enough so that they're noticeable differences.
I like the book much more than the movie, as it's much more detailed and order of events make a bit more sense.
I'm close to finishing the book but unfortunately I won't be able to get the second book in my hands for another week as a I wanted a particular edition.

I was going to start reading His Dark Materials after having watched The Golden Compass movie on Boxing Day (which was good
). But apart from having not much time, I still have to read a book on RFID .__.
It'll take me a while to get around to that, haha ![]()

I'm trying to finish Gregory Macguire's "Wicked", which I started a few years back -__- Something about picking that book up makes me have no free time.

Ah I've read Wicked before. Good book. I admit, it starts off slow but I kind of like how he takes a different prospect of the Wizard of Oz and goes into a completely different story.
I finished the "His Dark Materials" trilogy some time last month. It actually turned out pretty good. I was content with the series for the most part. It's been a while since I've read a fiction novel so it was a bit hard for me to keep up with all the story lines that were going on in the third book. Nevertheless, if you liked series like Chronicles of Narnia, The Time Quartet series, I'd say give "His Dark Materials" a shot.
I'm reading "Fifteen Days" by Christine Blatchford right now. Christine Blatchford is quite a well known newspaper reporter in Canada. She written for newspapers like Toronto Star, Toronto Sun and the Globe and Mail. The book "Fifteen Days" goes into various stories about what the soldiers stationed in Afghanistan have to face on a daily basis as well as how the families cope with their deaths, ect. Right now I'd day it's not a book for everyone. It can be quite a depressive read, but I'm reading it out of personal interest.

Clublife by Rob the bouncer.
I really liked his blog so even though the book is pretty expensive for a non-IT book I bought it without hesitations and so far I am liking it.

It's religious faith heavy, but wonderfully written thus far.
